Warnemünde is a part of Rostock directly situated at the sea side having a very nice beach. The S-Bahn needs about 20 minutes to get there from the main station in Rostock. As a typical location for holidays there are a plenty of nice restaurants and small shops around.

There is a lovely way along the coast for a hiking or biking tour (it's not a problem to rent a bike), which can be either taken westwards (e.g., towards Heiligendamm where the G8 met in 2007) or eastwards.
