Research interest

Wnt/beta-catenin signaling is connected to several cellular processes such as proliferation, cell death, cell polarity, morphogenic movements or self-renewal. GSK-3beta, the key enzyme of this pathway is an interesting pharmacological target as it is involved in various diseases, like schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, cancer, diabetes or Alzheimer's Disease. Therefore we're screening of novel small molecules as GSK-3beta inhibitors and investigate their impact on proliferation and differentiation of hNPCs.
This project is in cooperation with the Leibniz-Institute for Cataylsis, Prof. Dr. Matthias Beller
