Elucidation of Control Structures by Multivariate Dynamic Data-Modelling

Abstract:
Given time series data for the state variables in a system (measured in a real biological system, or computed by a mathematical model), a new approach is presented for the identifying the ”unknown” mechanisms controlling its dynamics. The approach combines elements from several modelling cultures:
• Inductive/explorative multivariate techniques from chemometrics and psychometrics
• Deductive/confirmative planning- and validation techniques from computational statistics
• Mechanistic ODE modelling techniques from systems biology.
