A Contact Pressure Model Based on Centroidal Voronoi Diagrams for Surfaces of Revolution

In: Proceedings of the 5th Annual International Symposium on Voronoi Diagrams in Science and Engineering (ISVD '08).

We present a contact pressure model for the creation
of compact phyllotactic patterns on arbitrary surfaces of revolu-
tion. By computing the contact pressure on tangent planes with a
local centroidal Voronoi relaxation in combination with Hofmeis-
ter’s rule for placing new primordia, we obtain stable Fibonacci
patterns of a high degree.
