Application of bifurcation theory in cell signalling pathways investigation

The integration of sensitivity and bifurcation analysis allowed:
- the detection of the sets of model parameters able to modulate the principal dynamical features of the system;
- the elucidation of the critical parameters between them, which modulation induces the emergence of bifurcation points;
- the characterisation of such bifurcation points; and
- the analysis of the behaviour induced by modulation of  those selected parameters.
The aim of the method is to help in the design of more informative predictive simulations, which focus on the critical model parameters and the biological effect of the related biochemical processes.
