Research Field: Simulation in Teaching and Training Systems

last modified 2006-03-15 14:18

Simulations are often part of computerbased teaching and training. As one part of education in computer science, simulation lends itself for computer based teaching and training. Virtual characters are often based on simulations, simulationsystems are developed as teaching and training system (an approach which is close to game-based learning). Our research in this field is mainly about how to teach modeling and simulation with intelligente teaching and training systems (ITS), and how to combine simulationsystems and ITS.

Simulation is the basis to realize different aspects of teaching and training systems. They are used e.g. to steer virtual characters, or to interact with the learner in a game-based environment. Being part of education in computer science, modeling and simulation lends itself as training content in computerbased teaching and training systems.  Usually, at least two types of simulations in teaching and training systems can be distinguished: interactive simulations and character simulations. Our reserach is focused mainly on how to teach modeling and simulation with an intelligent teaching and training system.
